VKB Group is hiring Electrician in Northern Cape.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
  • Wireman’s license or registered installation electrician.
  • A valid Trade Certificate as an Electrician or Millwright.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an industrial or agricultural environment (experience in silo or grain handling facilities is highly advantageous).
  • Experience in high and low voltage connections.
  • Experience working with grain dryers and handling equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems, motors, VSDs, and control panels and ability to read electrical plans.
  • Programming of PLC and related electronics.
  • CB – Code B driver’s license.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime including shifts when required.
  • Ability to work independently and handle after-hours breakdowns when required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have a clear criminal record.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance as scheduled according to company procedures and standards.
  • Fault-finding and diagnostics on motor control panels, conveyors, augers, dryers, and silo machinery.
  • Install, inspect, and upgrade wiring, panels, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and electrical regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with planning and execution of electrical projects and upgrades.
  • Mentor and support junior electricians and apprentices as needed.
  • Reduce breakdowns and downtimes periods to limit unnecessary costs.
  • Work with management to ensure all machinery and infrastructure function electrically optimal on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure the workshop comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Do fault finding and problem solving on electrical equipment.
  • Reduce breakdowns and downtime periods.
  • Solving of electrical problems from operational manager as specified in the job card.
  • Keep informed on newest electrical technology with regards to better functioning, energy saving and safety.
  • Complete all compulsory training interventions allocated by the direct Manager successfully.
  • Daily housekeeping.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Any other duties as may be required by management.
