Newlywed Bride Rescued from Umdloti Beach After Apparent Suicide Attempt
In a distressing turn of events, a 34-year-old newlywed woman was rescued from an apparent suicide attempt at Umdloti Beach in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday evening.
The incident followed an alleged domestic dispute.

Family Alert Triggers Swift Response
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received an urgent call at approximately 18h25 from the woman’s family, who feared for her life after receiving a disturbing message. She had indicated she was at the beach and intended to take her own life.
Upon arriving at the location, the family discovered her parked vehicle but could not immediately locate her. They quickly contacted RUSA’s Operations Centre for assistance.
Search Along Shoreline Ends in Dramatic Rescue
Acxording to MDN News, RUSA Operations Manager Kieran Ramjogi joined the woman’s father in a torch-lit search along the shoreline. Their efforts soon paid off when they found the woman floating in the surf, semi-conscious.
Both men entered the water and managed to pull her to safety. Onshore, emergency CPR was administered after she began vomiting, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Family Reveals Recent Marriage
The woman’s family revealed that she had recently gotten married—just a month ago. It is believed that a domestic dispute may have triggered the suicide attempt, although details remain unclear.
