Cardoso Hails Mvala Impact  – iDiski Times

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has hailed the experience of Mothobi Mvala and integration into the team because he’s ‘not afraid of anything’.

Mvala last played in December 2024 against AS FAR in a CAF Champions League group stage clash and has since being sidelined with an injury as he slowly makes his way back into the team.

Cardoso explained that he asked Mvala to be around the team even before he was fully fit as he felt like his experience would come in handy for Sundowns in tough situations like the Champions League and contesting for the Betway Premiership.

The Portuguese mentor further stated that Mvala will play before the end of the season with four league games remaining and two Champions League final home and away fixtures against Pyramids FC.

“Obviously, it’s important because players with character, players that already experienced moments of tension, moments of decision making, and that gives us that experience,” Cardoso told the media.

“I can tell you that Mothobi, I asked him to join the group even before he was 100% in conditions to play, because I wanted him to come with us and be with us and show his power.

“He’s the guy that is not afraid of the challenges, is not afraid of the ambience. He’s not afraid of anything.

“And having that courage and those values given by between the players makes my job also easier, because it’s not only me pushing it’s them pushing each other. So, I like to have the family united.

“I would like always, obviously, to have as much people from the family as possible. But obviously, we need to let players stay. So that they can also train in the right way. Because if you bring all the players and then you don’t give them a session, it’s not correct.

“But for you to understand, Lucas Suarez today and Mothobi Mvala, they were with us. Then they trained in the afternoon. So they trained yesterday and today, before we came to the match, they trained so that and now they are training also in the end.

“So we worry about their conditioning, but we were also worried about having the family feeling that they are part of us. Even if they are still not entering the pitch, they are part of us. No one is stepping apart. Everybody’s together.

“And I also believe for sure that Mothobi will play before the end of the season. For sure.”
