Nabi On Pressure Ahead Of Nedbank Cup Final

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has dismissed questions of mounting pressure on himself ahead of the Nedbank Cup final.

Amakhosi lost the first of back-to-back Soweto Derbies, going down 2-1 to Orlando Pirates despite scoring inside three minutes.

It was Chiefs’ sixth successive league match without a win, with Nabi’s men currently out of the top eight.

Despite the Nedbank Cup final being the last chance of silverware and to somewhat save the club’s season, Nabi insisted he doesn’t feel pressure on his role.

“I don’t think that there is going to be special pressure, but I have a special sense of responsibility going into the final,” he stated.

“It’s true that we still have the final to save our season and everybody – players, management and technical stuff – they know that everyone has the chance to put a smile on the fans’ faces.

“We believe that even though today we played against a very good team of Orlando Pirates, but at some point, we gave the breathing where we felt they will build fatigue, and we let them back into the game.

“We know that the players are going to respond very positively and are going to be up for the challenge of the Nedbank Cup final.”
