The backlash against MacG has grown beyond social media. Deputy Minister for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, publicly condemned his remarks about Dlamini, labeling them as “disgraceful and unacceptable.”
Letsike went further, calling the comments a form of online gender-based violence (GBV).
“These kinds of statements perpetuate harmful stereotypes and normalize the abuse of women in digital spaces,” she said in a statement.
Parliament Set to Grill MacG
The Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities has confirmed that MacG will be summoned before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee to account for his conduct. Should he fail to comply, he could face legal consequences, including fines or up to 12 months in prison.
