Xolani Khumalo Accused of Assault, Kidnapping and Theft During Sizok’thola Raid

Xolani Khumalo Accused of Assault, Kidnapping and Theft During Sizok’thola Raid

Xolani Khumalo, the host of the hard-hitting drug-busting show Sizok’thola, is facing fresh controversy after being accused of assault, kidnapping, and theft during a recent operation in Springs, Gauteng.

The incident, which reportedly took place on April 24, 2025, has sparked public outcry and renewed debate over the ethics and legality of the show’s aggressive tactics.

Nigerian Union Demands Arrest and Accountability

According to the Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA), Khumalo and his crew allegedly assaulted seven Nigerian nationals during the raid, while members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) stood by and failed to act.

NUSA has condemned the incident and called for Khumalo’s immediate arrest, along with the suspension of the involved officers, MDN News reveals.

The SAPS officers present were complicit,” NUSA alleged, accusing both the production team and law enforcement of overstepping legal boundaries in their fight against drug-related crime.

IPID Launches Investigation

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has confirmed that it is investigating the incident. Charges under review include assault, kidnapping, and theft.

As of May 3, no arrests had been made, and no formal statements have been released by Khumalo or SAPS.

This development comes just weeks after Khumalo was acquitted of murder charges related to a separate 2023 case, where an alleged drug dealer died during a raid by the Sizok’thola crew.

Sizok’thola Under Scrutiny Again

Khumalo and Sizok’thola have long been praised for their fearless approach to exposing drug crime in South African communities. However, critics argue that the show crosses legal and ethical lines, blurring the boundaries between justice and vigilantism.

The latest incident in Springs has intensified scrutiny, particularly from within the Nigerian community, where concerns have grown over perceived targeting and mistreatment of foreign nationals.
