SSU Coach Confirms Maboe Blow


SuperSport United interim coach Andre Arendse has confirmed an injury blow to on loan midfielder Lebohang Maboe who could take a few weeks to recover.

Maboe is loan from Mamelodi Sundowns since January and was a notable absentee from the side that defeated Chippa United 2-0 in the Betway Premiership over the weekend in Polokwane.

He was subbed in their last match and Arendse confirmed that Maboe is injured however pleased that the 30-year-old‘s absence wasn’t seen and that there will be an assessment to see if he will finish the season or not.

“Lebo is carrying an injury that’s keeping him out for a few weeks, but it wasn’t noticeable, was it? Arendse answered iDiski Times when asked about the player’s absence.

“Because whoever came in for him performed fantastically well and that’s how we do it. So, Lyle [Lakay] was missing from the last game he came in to replace Lebo in a different position on the field of play, but he got in the system right for me, his distribution from his set pieces were fantastic. He was a big part of the team.

“Well, what’s nice is we’ve got another little break now. Obviously, we have the time tomorrow morning we’ll have a look at our injury list and see who’s carrying some niggles who’s carrying some knocks who’s coming back from the injuries, how we can now again sort of rebuild the team if you like.

“And we will then work on the training ground to get the team to where I want them to be for our next game.”
