As the tension builds ahead of Saturday’s much-anticipated Soweto Derby, Orlando Pirates head coach José Riveiro is keeping calm under pressure.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Thursday, the Spanish tactician reflected on his time in South African football and the significance of the derby, set to take place at a sold-out FNB Stadium.

“Personally, it has changed my life,” Riveiro said, praising the Premier Soccer League and the talent within his squad. “I am impressed with the league — not only my players. It’s nice to have such talented players. I tell them all the time that they make me happy having to manage such talent.”

Riveiro, who confirmed this will be his final league Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium, his focus remains firmly on the task at hand.

“We are looking for victory. That’s important for us and the fans,” he said. “We need to get back on track.”
