The world’s oldest person, Brazilian nun Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas, has died.

She passed away at the age of 116.

She was born in 1908 and became a nun in her 20s.

Her nephew said she had not been ill. Her body ‘gradually stopped’.

The oldest person is now 115-year-old Ethel Caterham from Surrey in England.

Sister Inah was famous for her love of football. She was an avid follower of Sport Club Internacional – Porto Alegre’s football team

The club sent out its condolences via X:

It is with great sadness that Internacional receives the news of the death of Mother Inah Canabarro. The Colorado fan, who left us this Wednesday, was the oldest living woman in the world, and dedicated her 116 years of life to kindness, faith and love for the People’s Club.

We bid farewell to Sister, celebrating her legacy of spirituality and compassion and wishing strength to her friends and family.
