The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) is a state owned entity responsible for investing in, regulating and capacitating the South African social housing sector.
The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA), located at 32 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown, 2193, is pleased to announce its call for applications for the SHRA Internship Programme. This initiative is designed to offer young graduates under the age of 35 the invaluable opportunity to gain workplace experience in the public sector. The internship programme, spanning two years, aims to provide hands-on experience, development, and exposure to a variety of fields within the public housing sector.
As a Schedule 3A public entity of the Department of Human Settlements, SHRA is tasked with ensuring the provision of rental social housing for low- to medium-income earners in South Africa, in alignment with the Social Housing Act No. 16 of 2008.
Internship Overview
The SHRA Internship Programme invites young, passionate South African citizens to apply for two key internships across different departments within SHRA. The primary objective of this programme is to equip young graduates with the skills and practical experience needed to excel in their careers, while also contributing to SHRA’s ongoing projects.
Available Internship Positions:
1. Strategic Research and Planning Intern
- Department: Strategy, Research and Planning
- Location: Johannesburg
- Duration: 24 months
- Stipend: R10,500.00 per month
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and reviewing strategic plans and frameworks.
- Support performance monitoring and evaluation related to SHRA’s programs.
- Conduct research for policy reviews and recommendations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support to the SRP unit.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Grade 12 and a qualification in Public Policy, Strategic Planning, Research, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
2. Graphic Design Intern
- Department: Marketing and Communications
- Location: Johannesburg
- Duration: 24 months
- Stipend: R10,500.00 per month
Key Responsibilities:
- Design impactful visual content such as infographics and animations.
- Support SHRA’s messaging through creative design, formatting, and branding.
- Create layouts for printed and digital communication materials.
- Manage social media content, create posts, and monitor engagement.
- Assist in developing campaigns, events, and multimedia content such as videos and photographs.
- Coordinate with service providers on visual materials and logistics.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Grade 12 and a recognized three-year degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Adobe CS5 Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign).
- Experience with audio-visual editing software (e.g., Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects).
- Familiarity with HTML, motion graphics, and content management systems.
