Job Purpose:
As a Fire Fighter at Sasol, you will play a critical role in protecting the company’s assets from potential risks arising from emergency incidents. You will be responsible for applying safety and emergency management best practices, ensuring your readiness to react promptly to emergency situations, and collaborating effectively with various stakeholders. The role involves training, active participation in plant emergency preparedness activities, and constant improvement of emergency management protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- SHE Best Practices: Ensure all activities comply with Sasol’s SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) standards during emergency management operations.
- Training & Fitness: Engage in training activities that ensure mental and physical readiness for emergency response.
- Emergency Response: React quickly to emergency situations, adhering to agreed time standards and protocols.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve emergency management procedures, effectiveness, and service delivery.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with stakeholders, ensuring accountability and sharing feedback on safety practices and improvements.
Formal Education Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Mathematical Literacy or equivalent)
- Medically fit as per the Fire Fighter fitness level assessment
- Fire Fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) certification (Must have)
- Hazmat Awareness and Operations (NFPA 1072/472) (Must have)
- HPCSA Registered and Current BAA (BLS) (Preferred)
- HPCSA Registered and Current ILS (Preferred)
- Valid Code C1 Driver’s License (Strongly preferred)
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- 0-5 years of relevant experience in emergency response or firefighting.
- Positions will be filled according to the candidate’s current qualifications, years of experience, and alignment with Sasol’s Emergency Management career path.
