The mandate of the Department of Energy is to administer all matters related to nuclear energy as required by legislation and international agreements. These can be divided into three key activities, namely Nuclear Safety, Nuclear Technology, and Nuclear Non-Proliferation.
This opportunity is open to unemployed individuals aged 18–35 who are passionate about a career in engineering. Successful applicants will receive accredited technical training, a monthly stipend, and accommodation during their training.
Available Apprenticeship Trades
Necsa is offering training in the following Occupational Certificate trades:
- Boilermaker
- Welder
- Toolmaker
- Electrician
- Instrumentation
- Millwright
- Fitter & Turner
- Mechanical Fitter
- Metal Machinist
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must reside in one of the following provinces:
- Eastern Cape
- Free State
- KwaZulu-Natal
- Limpopo
- Mpumalanga
- Northern Cape
- North West
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics and Science
- N2–N6 with 4 relevant subjects (including trade theory)
- Technical Matric with Maths, Science, and trade theory
- NCV Level 3 or 4 Engineering Certificate with 7 relevant subjects
Additional Requirements
- Technical knowledge and ability to work in a team
- Must be medically fit, pass security clearance, and undergo qualification verification and assessments
- Only South African citizens will be considered
