Requirements for Applicants:
To qualify for this position, candidates need to meet the following requirements:
- Education:
A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) plus a National Diploma in Catering and Hospitality Management from a TVET institution at NQF Level 6. - Skills:
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Knowledge of ordering supplies, equipment, and inventory control is required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of food service line setup, temperature requirements, and food handling procedures.
- Skill in cooking and food preparation, as well as an understanding of presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lead and train students.
- Ability to safely handle and operate food preparation equipment.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
As an EPWP Food Services General Worker, your duties will include the following:
- Food Preparation:
- Complying with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food handling and preparation.
- Preparing food for both regular and therapeutic diets based on standardized recipes.
- Portioning, serving, and packing meals according to ward diet lists.
- Assisting in the packaging and labeling of therapeutic diets.
- Food Service:
- Delivering food to the wards and ensuring that meals are served correctly according to the diet lists.
- Collecting empty meal carts after each serving.
- Cleaning and maintaining food service areas, including washing dishes, cleaning work areas, and managing waste disposal.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Handling dishwasher and cleaning of utensils before and after use.
- Reporting faults, breakages, and illness in the Food Service Unit.
- Cleaning food service trolleys and areas according to the established cleaning schedule.
