This prestigious bursary aims to support deserving South African students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a passion for engineering and science.

Fields of Study Covered

The JAWS Bursary is available for students pursuing BEng or BSc degrees in the following fields:

• Civil Engineering
• Environmental Science
• Geochemistry
• Geology

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary will provide coverage for:

• Tuition fees (as a minimum)
• Accommodation (may be included)
• Prescribed textbooks (limited allowance)

Additional Benefits

• Recipients must complete 6 weeks of paid vacation work at Jones & Wagener offices (Rivonia or Centurion) during the July and/or December holidays.
• After graduation, students are required to work for Jones & Wagener for a period equal to the duration of the bursary.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a South African citizen
• Must have completed Matric, or currently be in Grade 12
• Must plan to study toward a BEng or BSc in one of the listed fields in 2026
• Must be accepted or intend to study at an accredited South African university
• Must have a strong academic record
• Must have achieved at least 75% in Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric (or Grade 11 if currently in Matric)
• Must have proven financial need
• Preference will be given to students who reflect Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) criteria
