Learnership Overview

Job Title: Engineering Learnership
Business Unit: Human Resource Development
Location: Marula Mine
Duration: As per structured learnership programme
Fields of Training:

  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Boilermaker Plater
  • Electrical
  • Fitting Including Machining

Purpose of the Programme

This structured learnership is designed to train and develop future artisans through both theoretical instruction and on-the-job practical experience. Successful learners will be equipped with the skills needed to maintain and operate mining equipment effectively.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, candidates must have:

  • Grade 12 / Std 10 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent
  • A minimum of N2 with four relevant subjects, or NCV Level 4 with trade-specific subjects

Additional Requirements:

  • Pass a knowledge and psychometric assessment
  • Successfully complete a formal interview
  • Obtain a medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket)
  • Complete a Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS)

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a full artisan training programme
  • Assist qualified artisans with equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Complete on- and off-site training phases
  • Learn and comply with Marula Mine rules and safety standards
  • Perform basic fault diagnosis and problem-solving tasks
  • Prevent production losses by maintaining engineering equipment
  • Develop supervision skills through assigned leadership roles
